When Latisse® was first introduced into the Canadian market a couple of years ago, Allergan, the company that makes Latisse, gave us some samples to try. Although my eyelashes were never something that I worried about (they were already long enough and dark enough for me), I thought I should give it a try just to see what would happen.
For me, it worked exactly the way they said it would: I used it every night before I went to bed, and after about a month and a half, my eyelashes were noticeably longer and fuller. I cannot say they were darker, though, as they were already black to begin with.
They were so long and beautiful that they would brush the lenses of my sunglasses. People began to spontaneously compliment me on them. And that was fine by me!
However, just to take my little experiment one step further (and because I am really bad at sticking to a new routine), I stopped using it for about 4 months. And, just as Allergan said they would, my eyelashes slowly returned to their normal length.
But by then, I had begun to like my new, longer look, so I started using it again. And, once again, they grew longer and fuller.
Full disclosure: I do believe I experienced a slight pigmentation of the skin along my lash line where I was brushing on the Latisse®. This is one of the side-effects noted in the literature. It took me a while to notice it, though, as it looked so natural. Just like the way the skin naturally darkens a little at the outside corner of your eye . It sort of looked like a light, natural eye-liner. I didn't mind at all.
